The Regional Bowls Centre is a response to the amalgamation of Naenae and Park Avenue Bowling Clubs.
The new indoor bowls centre was built on the existing site of the Park Avenue Bowling Club, providing a dedicated, international sized indoor bowling green.
The distinctive feature of this building is the large tensile membrane roof that forms a canopy over the indoor green. An efficient xanadome structure of four steel tube arches allows a height of 11m in the centre of the dome.
The exterior steel structural beams around the canopy perimeter were waterproofed using Rhino Tuff Stuff spray membrane enabling the steel beams to operate as gutters for the canopy.
This project was undertaken and completed by NZ Vision Contracting Ltd
